■ENGLISH JOURNAL OF JSTR

English Journal of Japanese Society for Theatre Research (EJ-JSTR): Call for paper and contribution

EJ-JSTR is an e-journal available on the Japanese largest academic portal site “J-Stage”. The next issue of EJ-JSTR is scheduled to appear on November 1, 2020. The editorial board calls for following papers and contributions:

  1. Papers

The adoption of submitted papers will be determined upon double-blind peer review. Papers include English translation of existing papers written in Japanese. Paper should not exceed 6,000 words including notes. In case the author is non-English native, native check of the manuscript prior to submission is required.

  1. Book Review

Review of books concerning theatre and performance published in the past five years (from 2015 to 2020). Review must contain at least 1,000 words up to 5,000 words. In case the author is non-English native, native check of the manuscript prior to submission is required. The adoption of applied review will be determined by the decision of the editorial board. Lastly, notwithstanding the above, review of books published before 2015 could be accepted if it is considered significant.

  1. Stage Review

Review of stages (theatre and performance) produced between 2018 and 2020 which are relevant to Japan (author, company, theme, etc.). Review must contain at least 1,000 words up to 5,000 words. In case the author is non-English native, native check of the manuscript prior to submission is required. Authors can accompany their articles with photos and short movies (a couple of minutes long) on the condition that the copyright is cleared. The adoption of applied review will be determined by the decision of the editorial board.
