The English Journal of the Japanese Society for Theatre Research (E-JSTR) is delighted to announce publication of Vol. 4 No.1 (2024). There are two themed sections, one commemorating the 100th anniversary of the pathbreaking Tsukiji Little Theatre, the second surveying Theatre and Politics in Asia, a peer-reviewed article on the legends and play Dōjōji ,and a lengthy book review by Daniel Gallimore’s “The Japanese Shakespeare: Tsubouchi Shoyo.” Articles can be read or downloaded from J-Stage, where backnumbers including translations of eminent Japanese theatre scholars can also be found.
